2012 JPL Invention Challenge "Kick Into the Can" Contest
The 2012 JPL Invention Challenge will be the "Kick Into the Can Contest". Participants must create a device that kicks a regulation size and weight football into a trashcan located five meters away.
Adam Provinchain Wins 1st Place at the NSBE TRE
UCLA MAE Dept. 3rd year ME student Adam Provinchain won 1st place in the oral presentation category at the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Fall Regional Conference's Technical Research Exhibition (T.R.E.). The conference was held November 18-20, 2011, in Denver, CO.

Seventh Annual RISE-UP Poster Competition
The UCLA CEED Seventh Annual RISE-UP Poster Competition was held on August 25, 2011. First place was awarded to Esteban Ruiz for his work on the Development of a Novel Polymer Insole for Knee Damage Prevention. Second Place was awarded to Cesar Quinde for his work on A Parametric Study of a Barium Titanate/Epoxy Resin Nanocomposite and to Brian Warren for his work on Scaffold Fabrication via 3D Printing in Bioengineering. Third place was awarded to Carlos Sotelo for his work on Realtime Guidance for Critical Situations.
